Rocket Grants

MIXED MEdia: A Healing Arts Journey for Veterans (2018) Artist John Sebelius created the Artistic Expressions Healing Arts Initiative, a veterans art program designed for those dealing with military-related trauma. This program offers a mental and physical space for veterans to explore their emotions, histories, and stories through a creative healing process. The initiative is supported by Rocket Grants, funded by the Spencer Art Museum, Charlotte Street Foundation, and The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts.

ARTSConnect TOPArts Access Grant

Sebelius's veterans art program, the Artistic Expressions Healing Arts Initiative, received recognition through the ARTSConnect TOPArts grant in 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2021, alongside support from Rocket Grants.

Best of Lawrence - Best Artist

Citizens of Lawrence, KS voted for Sebelius in various years, reflecting the community's support for initiatives like the artistic expressions healing arts initiative. The voting results are as follows: 1st Place in 2022, 1st Place in 2021, 1st Place in 2017, 1st Place in 2015, 1st Place in 2014, and 1st Place in 2012. Additionally, Sebelius achieved 2nd Place in both 2016 and 2013, as well as 3rd Place in 2018 and 2019, highlighting the impact of programs such as the veterans art program and the Rocket Grants on local artistic endeavors.
